Home Comfort for Abandoned Dogs

A US animal shelter has gone the extra mile to help abandoned dogs feel at home by giving them old armchairs to sit on.

The no-kill shelter in Illinois houses up to 100 animals at time. It currently has almost two dozen comfy old chairs for dogs awaiting adoption.

It put a call out for more and was flooded with donations after posting a video showing the dogs resting comfortably on the chairs on Facebook.

The shelter thanked the public saying their furry friends send many licks and purrs of thanks for helping them get off the cold floor while they waited for their forever home.

See the feel-good video showing the happy and comfy rescue dogs here.

We need to be informed and the world needs to be kept accountable.

But in an era of digital disruption and falling news audiences, the media must take a different view on what news is, and how stories are constructed.

Negative emotions have served us well during an age of flight or fight. But it’s the positive emotions that drive society forward – and that is the era we are currently stepping into.

Media has the power to move society and send a positive ripple out into the world.
