Too often women think they need to wear a traditional black power suit to be taken seriously by their male colleagues at work.
But personal brand coach Alba Gomez said it can have the opposite effect and make you disappear into the crowd.
Ms Gomez said it’s much better to embrace your femininity and use the difference of you being a woman in a man’s world to your advantage.
An expert at helping women be the best version of themselves, Ms Gomez said it’s all about getting the balance right.
She said this can be defined by 60 percent from a positive mindset, 20 percent in how you dress, and 20 percent in your presence and body language.
She said black suits are boring and it’s important to dress to convey credibility without losing your unique personality, so understand your best colours and go for medium shades, choose outfits that are structured and make an effort with your make-up.
But most importantly she said is to believe in your abilities and not be discouraged by a competitive work environment.
