Teenager rescues 92 year old from burning home in Australia

A 13 year old boy has helped an elderly woman to safety as her home was engulfed in flames, in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales.

Luke Mullard noticed thick black smoke while walking home from school, before spotting 92 year old Roma Wilson calling for help.

Luke has told of helping Ms Wilson to safety just moments before a large explosion.

Cervical Cancer efforts mark major milestone

The World Health Organization has marked the first official World Cervical Cancer Elimination Day with news that it is meeting ambitious goals around.

The disease kills close to 350 000 people each year, but is preventable with HPV vaccination, screening and treatment.

The goal was to vaccinate 86 million girls by the end of 2025, along with the introduction of advance national elimination plans and expanded access to screening and treatment.

Investment in green solutions gaining momentum

Australia’s investment in green, social and sustainable projects has surged over the past five years, from $20 billion in 2020 to $157 billion today.

These funds are already financing efforts such as tree-planting, carbon abatement and major water recycling initiatives.

Researchers from the Centre for Social Impact at the University of NSW believe the increase is due to more professional and expert teams attracting bigger pools of investment.

Curaçao celebrates historic first World Cup qualification

Curaçao has made football history, becoming the smallest nation ever to qualify for a FIFA World Cup.

The island nation of just 156,000 people sealed its place with a determined 0–0 draw against Jamaica.

The Curaçao journey is one of several exciting inclusions for next year’s World Cup because it is being expanded to 48 teams for the first time.
